Born Doris Nefodov in Silute, Lithuania in 1942, this sultry singer changed her name to Alexandra after her son Alexander was born when she was twenty years old. Though mainly popular in Germany, Alexandra also sang in English, French, Hebrew and Russian and was given the Golden Europa award for Best Newcomer in the spring of 1969. Sadly, Alexandra and her mother were both killed in a tragic car accident later that same year—only her son Alexander survived.
