Artist: Vitamin E
I had to take a big dose of Vitamin E this morning so I didn't catch tonsillitis. But even if I had, it would have been worth it!
Vitamin E's sweetener/vocalist Bianca Thornton eventually went on to bigger and better things as Lady Bianca—we have the same birthday! Wikipedia calls this 1977 Vitamin E record "commercially doomed," though, doomed as it may have been, it was through no fault of the music itself. It's dynamite! I'm fairly certain that the American public was once again to blame. They never know a good thing when they hear it. I picked up this LP for $3 at Doug's Used Records in Yakima, WA two summers ago on my way to a family camping trip in the woods. They had a used copy at Yakima's Off the Record too, which I stopped at next, but there they wanted $45 for it.
Artist: Crackin'
LP: Crackin'-1
Song: "Wanna Dance?"
Some folks on the rate your music website have assigned this 1975 Crackin' LP low star-ratings, calling it "painful" and "average." But if it's any consolation, the photos on the back of the record show that the men of Crackin' range anywhere from "above average" to "smoldering" in the looks department—and as we all know, when the guys in the band are sexy, it makes their music sound a lot better. You can read a little about Crackin' here and see some better pictures of Leslie Orlando Smith, the smolderingest member of Crackin', without any wear and tear on his face here and here. Personally, I think the record's alright, and "Wanna Dance?" has been added to the playlist for the dance portion of my sister's wedding reception tomorrow.
Artist: Earth Quake
LP: Earth Quake
Song: "Summer Song"
Lately I've had natural disasters on the brain (don't know if you've heard, but I'm currently a tropical storm making my way across northeastern Mexico—yesterday I was a hurricane!) so this Earth Quake song seemed appropriate. Also, "Summer Song," since it's supposedly summertime...though here in Seattle it's cold and wet and feels like the first day of March. Bay-area band Earth Quake is known for their poppy IBM music (involuntary body movement). They released several LPs throughout the 1970s, starting with this one in 1971. You can read about Earth Quake here and visit Earth Quake guitarist Robbie Dunbar's web page here.
