Artist: Dianne Brooks
LP: Back Stairs of My Life
"Kinky Love" has been one of my favorite Pale Saints songs since I first bought the CD single in the early '90s. I didn't know it was a cover, first recorded and released in 1976 by both Nancy Sinatra and soul/jazz singer Dianne Brooks, whose "Back Stairs of My Life" LP I found at Golden Oldies yesterday when I stopped by to see if I could upgrade my scuffed copy of the The Carpenters' single "For All We Know" which I'd found with a decent picture sleeve. Not much info about our Miss Brooks on the web, but according to a brief entry on Wikipedia, she was originally from New Jersey, but had relocated to Toronto, where she passed away in the spring of 2005.
