Afternoon Delights

Artist: Afternoon Delights
LP: General Hospi-tale
Song: "General Hospi-tale"
[ listen ]

Filled with horrible rhymes, this disco rap is sung from the perspective of someone who's addicted to soap operas—"General Hospital" to be specific. GH is the longest-running daytime soap currently still in production, having first aired on April 1, 1963. "General Hospi-tale" covers events that took place on the show in 1981—when Luke & Laura were at the zenith of their popularity. This part of the story also involves folks like Monica, Rick, Max, Hutch, and even some hit-woman named Sally, who, as it turns out, is actually a man wearing a dress. Anyway, there's a video clip below to help you sort everything out, and you can click here to find a written account with pictures.
