Allan Edwall

Artist: Allan Edwall
LP: Grovdoppa
Song: "Baciller"
[ listen ]

I took a couple sacks full of records to Jive Time in Fremont last weekend to trade up for a few new vinyl gems. One of the things I took home is this terrific 1979 LP filled with the salty warblings of Swedish actor/composer/director/author Allan Edwall. Born in Rödön, Sweden in 1924, Edwall appeared in Ingmar Bergman films like THE VIRGIN SPRING (1960), WINTER LIGHT (1963), and FANNY AND ALEXANDER (1982). He also acted in Jan Troell's THE EMIGRANTS and its sequel, THE NEW LAND, in the early 1970s and appeared in Andrei Tarkovsky's THE SACRIFICE in 1986. Famed Swedish actor Erland Josephson remarked of Edwall, "He was odd. But, damn it, he managed to be odd in a universal way!" Read more about Allan Edwall on Wikipedia here and find his complete list of work in film and television here.
