I've never been much of a fan of adult-contemporary/country singer Anne Murray, but I picked up her 1968 debut LP at a thrift store while visiting Pasco, WA with a friend a few years ago, since the cover looked promising. I finally put it on the other day, and was pleasantly surprised! The record sorta' sounds like a nice, folksy mixture of The Velvet Underground and Aimee Mann, with maybe a dash of Ellen DeGeneres thrown in too. (But that might just be her looks—can Ellen even sing?)
